Congratulations to the UNC Costume Production MFAs of 2017!
Now that the semester has ended and graduates have walked the stage, i want to congratulated our 2017 Costume Production MFAs, Max Epps and Emily Plonski! Here are some highlights of their capstone projects:
At left is a concept drawing by renowned midcentury fashion illustrator Rene Gruau.
At right is Max's actualization of this costume.
Also by Max Epps: deetail of corset, platter tutu and bodice (Snowflake design), and historical reproduction project taken from a garment in our antique clothing archive.
Emily Plonski created this ensemble (modeled by acting MFA candidate Shanelle Leonard) inspired by Thierry Mugler's 1997 couture creation "Carapace."
Detail shots of Emily's historical reproduction and corded "health corset."
Congratulations, Masters of Fine Art! I'm gonna miss these ladies but I can't wait to see where they go next.
