Book review: Bending the Rules

 

Disclosure: I have met this author at a professional conference, which we have both attended multiple times. That in no way influenced this review.

I absolutely loved the experience of reading this book!

There is an overarching, larger structure with sections devoted to themes like neutrality, binary gender expression, unisex/androgyny, etc. Within each section, there are short one and two page profiles of designers, artists, historical figures, and brands that briefly describe their work and perhaps include some pictures and diagrams.

I read roughly one profile a day over the course of the whole summer, and discovered so many artworks and makers I want to track down and learn more about!
